White Lines Music By Tom Holkenborg / Junkie XL
From the creators of Money Heist and The Crown, the Netflix series White Lines stars Laura Haddock as Zoe Walker, a British librarian who sets off to Ibiza when her brother, the once-legendary DJ Axel Collins (Tom Rhys), is discovered, 20 years after his initial disappearance. She enters a thrilling world of dance music, super yachts, lies and cover-ups, forcing her to confront the darker sides of her own character in a place where people live life on the edge. The sun-soaked thriller is soundtracked by none-other than composer and electronic producer Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL. Returning to his early DJ career in the dance music scene, Tom’s score blends Café Del Mar style cues with alternative 90s era sounds to match the show’s sultry and mysterious vacation vibes. To make the score more authentic to the time period, Tom recorded the music using only equipment available in the ’90s.
Of the project, Tom says: “It was a delight to dive back into my electronic roots and revisit some amazing Ibiza memories when creating the score for White Lines. Though much of the music I made is not club focused, as they licensed a lot of original tracks from the late ‘90s and early 2000s, I think my work was able to capture some of the magic that makes club culture and the island so special. It was a really fun personal project to work on and I hope people love the series.”
