The Nest Music By Richard Reed Parry
Best known as the multi-instrumentalist behind the critically-acclaimed and endlessly-inventive rock band Arcade Fire, Richard Reed Parry makes his solo debut as lead composer for IFC thriller The Nest. With an expansive body of work that extends beyond the hugely-successful band, Parry brings his experience as both an esteemed classical composer and sought-after collaborator to director Sean Durkin’s family drama.
Starring Jude Law and Carrie Coon, The Nest tells the story of an American family on the verge of unraveling after moving into a centuries-old country manor in 1980s England. As the promise of a lucrative new beginning starts to fade, the couple are forced to face the unwelcome truths lying beneath the surface of their marriage. Parry’s string-heavy score vacillates between moments of slow burning tension and bombastic chaos, mirroring the menacing sense of unease at the heart of the family’s onscreen demise.
