Sasquatch Sunset
In the misty forests of North America, a family of Sasquatches—possibly the last of their enigmatic kind— embark on an absurdist, epic, hilarious, and ultimately poignant journey over the course of one year. These shaggy and noble giants fight for survival as they find themselves on a collision course with the ever-changing world around them. Starring Riley Keough and Jesse Eisenberg, acclaimed directors David and Nathan Zellner (Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter) bring you the greatest Bigfoot story ever told.
Available everywhere now, the album features music written by the experimental indie group for the surrealist comedy, which follows a family of Sasquatch as they navigate changes to their Pacific Northwest home. Included on the 23-track album is original vocal song “The Creatures of Nature” performed by Riley Keough, who also appears on a special “Grunts Variation” of the track in which she performs the song with her Sasquatch grunt.
Of the score, The Octopus Project say, “We’re so excited to continue our collaboration with the Zellner brothers – this is the fourth feature of theirs we’ve worked on and each has been a journey into a totally unique world, perhaps Sasquatch Sunset most of all. A film without human dialogue leaves a lot of space for score in the storytelling, and it was a real treat to use that space to explore these character’s minds through music. We tried to bring the same balance of pastoral naturalism and insane psychedelia to the score that the Zellners brought to the images and are so thrilled with the way it turned out.”
The film makes its limited theatrical release today before opening in theaters nationwide on Friday, April 19 from Bleecker Street.
