Film Favorites: P.T. Adamczyk

This month, we are thrilled to have P.T. Adamczyk, a renowned musician, music producer, and the composer behind the iconic soundtrack of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, share his all-time favorite film scores.

Hailing from an artistic family in Warsaw, Poland, Adamczyk’s musical journey began as a drummer. His passion for composition and music production eventually led him to the prestigious Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program at the University of Southern California, where he honed his skills.

Returning to Warsaw, Adamczyk became an in-house composer at CD Projekt’s RED, where his work quickly gained recognition in the gaming industry. He was honored with the Digital Dragons Award in 2019 for his work on The Witcher Tales: Thronebreaker, alongside Marcin Przybylowicz and Mikolai Stroinski, and in 2021 for his outstanding contributions to the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack, created in collaboration with Marcin Przybylowicz and Paul Leonard-Morgan.

Join us as Adamczyk delves into his cinematic inspirations and shares his favorite film scores.

Favorite Film Scores

“I’m from The Matrix generation. I was 10 when it came out and it blew me away. Don Davis’ score is beyond amazing. It’s fantastic writing and conceptually fits like a glove. Spectacular.”

“Thomas Newman is my favorite film composer. I love his sense of drama, harmonic vocabulary, and the colors he creates. The “Shawshank Redemption” track from this album highlights all those things. Fantastic.”

“Picking just one of Jerry Goldsmith’s scores is like picking Michael Jordan’s best performance — impossible. But The Omen is probably the most black metal of them all, so I had to go with this one.”

“Simply amazing. Minimalism at its finest.”

“Komeda’s music, both his jazz albums and film scores, are a huge inspiration to me. The school I graduated from was named after him and I feel like his music was extremely important in my formative years. ‘What Have You Done To Its Eyes’ scared the crap out of me when I first heard it.”

I used to watch The Twelve Tasks of Asterix with my brother every week when we were kids, and I think this movie made me aware of film music. Gerard Calvi nailed every single cue and to this day I can hum “Obelix’s Samba” or “The Crocodile Waltz.”

“My favorite game score.”
