Composer Spotlight: P.T. Adamcyzk
For this month’s Composer Spotlight playlist we’re excited to welcome the renowned musician, music producer and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty composer P.T. Adamczyk!
Born in Warsaw, Poland in an artistic family, Adamczyk originally started as a drummer. After years of touring and session work, he focused more on composition and music production. His substantial drive and dedication allowed him to graduate from the world renowned Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television programme at the University of Southern California.
After returning to Warsaw he joined CD Projekt’s RED as an in-house composer. His work has been instantly recognized by the gaming industry which gained him the Digital Dragons Award 2019 for The Witcher Tales: Thronebreaker (with Marcin Przybylowicz and Mikolai Stroinski) and the Digital Dragons Award 2021 for Cyberpunk 2077 (with Marcin Przybylowicz and Paul Leonard-Morgan).
Of the playlist, Adamczyk adds “this playlist consists of tracks that were a source of inspiration for both Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty scores as well as pieces I listen to after work. The first five are where my combat tracks came from. Tracks 6-11 are the reason we recorded a vocal trio for Phantom Liberty. Refused is there to remember where Johnny Silverhand came from, while Mayhem served as direction for our Ritual FM in-game radio station. Penderecki and Pärt, and the techniques they used, inspired a lot of the more ambient cues, The Doors were the reason I scored nomads in the base game with electric guitars, and Górecki served as an example of how to be effective and emotionally profound. The last two tracks are part of my commute-to-and-from-the-studio playlist, and Pantera is there because they are the ultimate soundtrack to beating your PR at the gym.”
Take a listen to all of his eclectic picks!
