The Duke Of Burgundy Music By Cat’s Eyes
Directed by Peter Strickland (the director of Katalin Varga and Berberian Sound Studio), The Duke Of Burgundy is about two women – Cynthia and Evelyn – who live in a grand old house in the middle of a moss-draped forest.
They act out a simple yet provocative ritual that ends with Evelyn’s punishment and pleasure. As Cynthia yearns for a more conventional relationship, Evelyn’s obsession with erotica quickly becomes an addiction that may push the relationship to a breaking point.
This beautifully strange and elegant film is scored by British pop duo Cat’s Eyes (comprised of singer Faris Badwan and soprano Rachel Zeffira). The music taps into a forgotten world of 1960s and 70s children’s television themes. The gorgeous, hypnotic compositions ranging from musique concrete to mysterious choirs bring a unique color to this gem of a film.
The Duke Of Burgundy opened on 01/23/2015 in the USA.
